INCOMING ERASMUS+ STUDENTS

UNIVERSITALY | If you are an extra EU student, you need to apply for a visa throught the portal Universitaly and then at the Itlian Ambassy in your home country. 

Acceptance Letter | Once your admission at Accademia di Belle Arti di Verona will be accepted, you will receive by email an official Acceptance Letter stating the dates of your mobility.

Planning your travel | Once you will receive the Acceptance letter, you can start planning you travel. Use the Travel chapter and Housing chapter of the Guidebook, and visit the Ministero della Salute website for all the Covid Travel restrictions and requirements. We reccomend to arrive few days before the first day of lessons and Welcome day.

Final Learning Agreement | You may receive an email from IR Office with some feedbacks on your LA proposal. Study them with you Home institution coordinator and, if he/she accepts the changes sign the final LA. and send it back to the IR Office.

Academy’s ID | You will receive two emails: • one with your Academy’s institutional email and password • one with your ID and PW to access the NETTUNO “Registro online” APP. where you will find all the courses news

Cerificate of Arrival | Schedule an appointment with IR Office in the first week and bring with you an identification document

Codice Fiscale | Codice fiscale is the Italian tax identification number. It is compulsory for those who need to apply for a residence permit or the ones who got an ESU room. It can be useful for other various activities, like opening a bank account. You can find the infos on AGENZIA DELLE ENTRATE WEBSITE.

Advice! Do not ever skip the first days of classes, as it is the best moment you can realize if a subject is appropriate for your study plan. Directly talk with the teachers before or after the first day of class, explaining you are an exchange student and that you could be following his/her class for the rest of the semester. There is a chance that teachers – especially for theoretical classes – will arrange an exam that is more suitable to your language level.

Changes in the Learning Agreement | It is most likely that you will have to make some changes to your study plan, due to a variety of circumstances like timetables conflicts, language barriers, etc. All changes. have to be made during your first month of classes; Whenever you make a change, the L.A. must be signed again by all parties. Therefore, try to condense the changes in just one or two steps.

Residence permit | If you are an EXTRA UE Erasmus+ student and you’re going to stay more than three months in Italy, you must apply for a temporary residency permit within 8 days of your entrance in Italy. The application process is separated in two parts: the Post Office and the Questura.

1. You have to pick up the application kit at a local post office with the Sportello Amico service (e.g. Post Office in via del Pontiere, close to the Academy). The application kit is an envelope with the required forms that you must fill out.
2. After you picked up the application kit, you can leave the post office and head to somewhere quiet so you can complete it. The forms will be in Italian, so come prepared. You can schedule an appointment with the Academy’s IR Office for a support in filling the forms.
3. You have to buy a Marca da Bollo stamp, which you have to attach to your application before submitting.  This is a “duty stamp” which you can find at any Tobacco shop and it costs € 16,00.
4. Make sure not to sign the application or close the envelope, since the post officers handling your application have to review them first. 
5. After filling out the application form, the application always has to be handed in the same post office where there is a “Sportello Amico” counter, within maximum 2/3 days. You won’t have to submit the originals of any documents, but bring them and the passport just in case they need to see them, along with photocopies for each. The postal expenses amount to € 30,00. You will have also to pay € 70,46 in order to obtain the electronic residence permit card.
6. If the post officer find that everything is in order, he/she will give you your appointment date for when you have to appear at the Questura (local police headquarters) for the second part of your Italian residence permit application. You will give you a receipt containing a USER ID and a PASSWORD.
7. You always have to bring with you the postal receipt or at least a copy of it, together with your passport until you receive your electronic residence permit in case someone asks to see your residence permit, to let them know you are in the process of getting one. The receipt will serve as a temporary residence permit because the Questura appointment is usually 1-2 months away.
8. On the date of your appointment at the Questura, you must bring the originals of all the documents that you need (see below), along with the receipt and the letter containing your appointment date that you received at the post office. There, they will take your fingerprints, and may ask you some questions. They will also let you know when you can come back in order to pick up your Italian residence permit card.
9. On this appointment you will be required to bring 4 identical passport photos and the original documents, whose copies were enclosed in the application kit, including any document that could be missing in your application. It is mandatory to go and get fingerprinted on the day and at the time indicated in the appointment sheet issued by the post office. The immigration office is stopping all the applications of those students who missed the appointment. Please consider that after the fingerprints appointment it takes some months to collect the residence permit card at the Immigration Office. The requirements for an Italian residence permit include:

• Four passport-size pictures in line with Italy visa photo
• Your valid passport
• Documents related to the reason you are in Italy, such as a work permit or enrollment in school.
• All the documents that you submitted when you applied for your Italian long-term visa in your home country. See: Italian Study Visa requirements
• Proof of health insurance. In some cases, you may be eligible for free health service, while in others, you may have to pay an annual fee. You can get started in obtaining Italian health insurance by registering at your Local Health Agency (Azienda Sanitaria Locale).

Certificate of Attendance | At the end of your mobility period, schedule an appointment with the IR Office for your Certificate of Attendance. It is compulsory to bring back to your Home Institution the Certificate in original.

Transcript of Records (TOR) | Within five weeks after the exams period, IR Office will send to your Home Institution the Transcript of Records of the exams you attended at the Academy.
